We got a letter saying it was from Kaleidoscope or Grattans, some kind of fashion catalogue company. It said there had been some strange activity on our account and that they’d blocked it, asking us to call the number they provided. Thing is, we don’t have an account with them or ever ordered anything. We did call the number, and the person answering tried connecting us to the contact named in the letter. But after spotting this warning, we thought better of it and ended the call.

Received a letter from Freemans about an account I’ve never opened. I’ve never bought anything from them or any linked businesses. Bit confused why they’re getting in touch!

Got a letter from Freemans telling me to ring this number, which made me a bit wary since I’ve never had an account with them. So I looked up their official customer service number on their site and called that instead, which was different. It turned out someone was trying to create an account in my name to buy an Xbox before Christmas, but thankfully their fraud team blocked the purchase. They were really helpful and I’ve now reported the identity theft to Action Fraud.

Got a couple of letters within a couple weeks claiming to be from Curvissa (which is part of Freemans Group). The phone number on the letters isn’t Curvissa’s. I’ve never had an account with them. The address on the letter was 2 Nunnery Square Sheffield S2 5DD, which looks like some kind of Web Help Centre. I checked on Curvissa’s chat, their hours don’t match the letter’s, and they confirmed I don’t have an account. Didn’t bother calling the number, just threw the letters away. Seems like a scam to me.

Got a letter supposedly from "Freemans" asking me to ring about my account. The address on the letter didn't line up with Freemans' actual offices, and the paper felt a bit dodgy. So I searched the phone number online and found it's been checked out over 5000 times linked to loads of other scams. Be careful, don’t call back if you get a letter like this.

Got a call from a firm saying I'd been a victim of identity theft and to watch out for stuff delivered from a catalogue named Bon Pre. They said someone had set up a credit account in my name, dob, and address. They told me to ring a number to get a crime reference number. The lady on the phone was called Clare. Honestly, this felt like a proper well done scam! Be careful people!

Got a letter claiming to be from Grattan - the phone number's pretty similar to theirs, theirs ends with 3006 or 8067, never 3004. Since my missus has never had an account with Grattan and the letter was sent to an old address we moved out of nearly two years ago, it definitely looks like a scam to me.
