I usually don’t pick up calls from numbers I don’t recognise, just so I know who’s on the other end. If it’s really important, they’ll leave a voicemail, and if they don’t, well, I’m not bothered. They can ring me all day long and I still wouldn’t answer. There's way too many scams about these days, so better to be safe than sorry.

It felt really sketchy, like they were trying to trick me into giving away my card info. I've got bad mental health & anxiety, and this call really made me panic a lot. The person told me to block my card through the app, but I wasn’t sure if the call was legit and they kept asking weird questions. Got a call from this number yesterday evening. There was a weird noise, like a guy coughing in the background, while a woman was asking for my info, claiming there was credit card fraud. It didn’t feel right, so I told her I’d call back using my bank’s app. She tried to rush me, saying if I ended the call, the suspicious charges would still go through and they couldn’t pause the payments. I kept saying I’d use the app, then she just suddenly disconnected. Definitely dodgy.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Barclays, saying there was a dodgy transaction on my account. When I asked for the account details, they refused to give them unless I confirmed my info first. The caller had a proper posh English accent, which made it a bit sneaky. If you get this, just don’t trust it straight away - check your app or get in touch with Barclays directly through their legit website. This was a scam for sure. I got an automated call claiming there were two international payments on my account, the first one was for £700 and it told me to press 1 to cancel it. I just hung up immediately and rang Barclays myself. They told me there were no suspicious transactions or anything going on with my account. When I checked my call log, the number looked like it started with Barclays’ usual number but had some extra digits after it like +443332002191,,7426175272. Definitely a scam so I blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from someone claiming they were from Visa Secure, saying there were two big charges on my debit card to some overseas payment service. They said they’d frozen the transactions for now and asked if I wanted them to go ahead. When I told them no, they said they could stop them only if I answered some security questions first. The very first question was for my branch code (sort code)! I immediately hung up. They then said I had 15 minutes to rush to my branch to cancel the payments or else. Total scam - don’t let them push you around like that.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from Barclays Action Fraud. Heads up, Barclays have made it clear they don’t call customers directly, and if you need to get in touch, the safest route is through their official app. Don’t fall for it!

Got a call from someone saying they were with Barclays’ fraud team. They said I’d authorised a payment of £950, which I definitely didn’t do. So, I got a call supposedly from Barclays saying it was about fraud prevention. I ended up giving them my sort code, account number, and the name on my card. But something felt off, so I hung up. No sooner had I done that, my landline rang again, it was the same "Barclays fraud prevention" line. A bit later, I noticed a £57 charge to Uber Eats on my account that I definitely didn’t make. Total scam, watch out!

Got a call from someone claiming to be with 02, asking if my new sim had arrived yet. Thing is, I’d ordered it online just a few hours before but cancelled after an hour because I found a better price elsewhere. This bloke got really pushy, wanting to know what deal was better than theirs and tried to tempt me with 10gb, 1000 minutes and 1000 texts - ironically worse than the 02 deal I’d seen earlier. Eventually had to cut the call because he was getting quite aggressive.
