My elderly mum got a call from a bloke saying he was from Sky, telling her her cover had run out. He offered her one year’s cover for £89, or three years for £195. He spoke with a thick South African accent and went quiet when I asked for a phone number to ring him back. It seemed dodgy to me, so I was quite worried it might be a scam.

Caught up in one of those insurance cons too. The story’s pretty much the same as others here. Once I realised what was going on, I rang them up more than once and let them have it with some proper verbal wrath - and I’m not stopping anytime soon. I want to make sure I get something out of this! If anyone knows where these scammers hang out, please share it with everyone. I’d be more than happy to drop by for a chat. Bet they wouldn’t be too pleased to see me!

I got a call from someone claiming to be from SKY customer support, the number showed up as 01273655155. I didn’t trust it straight away so I asked for a callback number, and they gave me 03332001600. When I rang the official Sky number I have saved (a different 0333 number), I got the usual automated reply. Then I dialled the number they gave me and a person answered straight away, asking for a policy number, which seemed odd. Both the caller and the person on the other end had pretty thick South African accents. Definitely a scam!

Had a call yesterday from 03332001600, bloke said he was John Walker from Domestic General, trying to renew my protection insurance. He even gave me a landline number to sound legit. Seemed quite genuine at first, but I didn’t give him my bank details or sort code. Just rang up Domestic and General myself to double-check and turns out it’s a scam. They’re passing it on to their legal dept. Watch out, this one sounds really legit!

A rather dubious company rang my elderly mother, pretending to be from Sky, insisting she needed to update her Sky equipment insurance. They claimed it required renewal for a period of three years and then asked her to verify her bank details, saying they would call her back on this number. Thankfully, my mum had the sense to hang up and withheld her information. They were rather insistent about ringing her again. We’ve since reached out to the genuine insurance company, and they confirmed that the call did not originate from them. Clearly, this is a SCAM!

I received a call earlier today, claiming they were eager to renew the 'protection' for my Sky devices, and even mentioned complimentary cover for my television. I strung the conversation along for a good ten minutes, just taking my sweet time before I finally dropped the bombshell that I’ve never been a Sky customer. I asked him why on earth he was attempting to pull a fast one, and that seemed to be the last straw for him-he abruptly ended the call.

A chap rang me at half past ten on the 22nd of February, 2021, claiming to be from Domestic Appliance Care-not to be confused with Domestic and General. We hold a policy with D&G, and he mentioned specifics about our covered appliances. He also had our address and was trying to tempt us with a 35% discount. When I requested the information in writing, he insisted on needing our bank’s sort code. I made it clear that all communications needed to be conducted via post. He promptly hung up when I declined his proposal. I attempted to return the call using withheld number 141, but it was out of service. He provided an alternative customer service number, which is 0333 200 1600.

Today I got a call from someone claiming to be from Domestic and General about renewing my washing machine warranty. Since I do actually have a policy with them that's about to run out, I thought it might be genuine. They even knew my name and address. Then they asked for my card number along with the expiry date. I wasn’t comfortable sharing that, especially since they supposedly already had my details. When I said no, they pressed me to confirm anyway. I ended the call straight away. Definitely wasn’t the real company!

There’s this persistent caller who keeps hounding my mum, attempting to persuade her to provide her bank card information under the pretense of some insurance for a washing machine. It’s rather dodgy, to say the least!

They claimed to be from Domestic and General but when I asked them to confirm, they quickly said no, instead saying it was Domestic Appliances Insurance with a 40% discount offer. Then they changed the story from just washing machines to any domestic appliance. I got three calls all within 15 minutes, the last one supposedly from a "supervisor." When I asked for more details, they just hung up. The number they kept using was 01273655139. Definitely feels like a scam.

I got a call from a company pitching insurance on my home appliances for way less than what Domestic & General charges. They said £390 would cover me for three years, which sounded too good to be true. They came across as really legit and gave some info that might’ve been right, but then they started asking for my bank’s name and the PIN code from my card’s back - that’s when I knew something wasn’t right. Recently, my elderly dad received a call from a firm claiming to be Apex Assure LTD. They told him they needed to verify some information because he allegedly had an account with them and wanted to update his records. Luckily, he caught on before the conversation concluded and recognised that he had never signed up with them. He smartly refrained from sharing any of his card information, which could have led to a nasty situation.

I've had a right dodgy experience with this lot. They’re trying to fish for credit card details under the guise of some bogus "warranty department." They’re insisting it’s the personal number of an engineer. Complete nonsense!

I received a call claiming to be from Domestic & General, wanting to discuss insurance for my washing machine. Their tone has become increasingly hostile and intimidating. Just to clarify, D&G has absolutely nothing to do with this! It’s definitely a scam!

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Domestic and General, saying they were looking to extend my washing machine insurance for another three years. Since I was aware that my existing D&G policy was nearing its renewal date, I went ahead and made the payment to Apex Assure. Upon following up with Domestic and General, I discovered that they had no link whatsoever to Apex Assure. I've since reached out to my bank and reported the incident to Action Fraud - definitely sounds like a dodgy scam artist at work!

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Domestic and General, indicating they wished to renew my washing machine insurance for an additional three years. My elderly mother, who is 87 and suffers from Alzheimer's, received a call from this number, and sadly, it led to her bank details being compromised. They've taken £395 without her realising the magnitude of the situation-she thought it was merely £3.95 and believed a caller was ringing back to verify something, but that never happened. It has been an incredibly distressing episode, particularly for her, as she now feels utterly violated and deceived. Attempts to reach out to the supposedly legitimate company have been met with silence, and any emails we’ve sent keep bouncing back as 'undeliverable'. The address provided is clearly fake; it's nothing more than a SCAM. It would be prudent for others to steer clear of this charade. Those behind this despicable act must be apprehended and face the full consequences of their fraudulent behaviour.

My mother, who is quite advanced in age, recently got a rather troubling call about insurance. They claimed they would be withdrawing funds from her bank account.
