This number just rang me but I never answer unknown calls anymore. It’s honestly the worst thing to do because it shows the caller your number is legit, and then it’s traded to every dodgy spammer out there. I’ve got a little trick that really helps: I tell my mates and family to only ring for like 4 or 5 rings and then hang up. After that, you can press 1471 to check who called you, and only ring back the people you actually know and trust. If it’s some random number that just kept ringing, you can jot it down and Google it to figure out if it’s a scam or some time-wasting weirdo. I reckon around 95% of calls these days are rubbish like that. Honestly, I wish one day all these annoying pests would just get shipped off to some faraway planet and be left there forever.

They keep ringing me from loads of different numbers, this is the third time this evening. I’m on the directory and have my number registered with the telephone preference service, but they just ignore it. Last time I told them it was borderline harassment, so I think it may have stopped now. Still, I’m planning to report them to the Information Commissioner’s Office anyway.

I got three calls from this number today. When I asked to speak to a manager, they said the guy I was talking to was the supervisor and no manager was around. Got a call on 7th March 2015 at 4.39pm from the same annoying number. This person rings every evening when I’m trying to eat. Told them to take me off their list yet again, but they just wouldn’t stop pestering me, kept saying it’d only be a quick 2 minutes. Asked for their phone number but they refused to give it. Got a ring from this number earlier this evening and immediately told Virgin Media, who handle my phone. The person I spoke to took down all the info but admitted they can’t actually block calls coming from that number. Does anyone know how to put an end to these annoying calls? They say it’s for surveys, but I’m sure if I started chatting, they'd just pester me with offers and calls from other companies. So I just ignore everything and don’t respond. This number popped up on my phone earlier, but I don’t answer calls from unknown people - worst thing you can do as it shows your number’s active and then it gets passed around to all sorts of dodgy characters. Here’s what I do instead, which works perfectly: I tell my mates to ring me and hang up after just a few rings, say about 4 or 5. Then I check who’s called by ringing 1471, and only call back the genuine ones I know. If it’s a random number that keeps ringing for ages, I write it down and search it online to find out which muppet’s trying to waste my time. I swear, at least 95% of these calls are from total scams or cold callers. One day, I hope someone invents a way to send all these idiots off to some distant planet where they can’t bother anyone! - from a fed-up recipient.

What I've done to deal with this number and some others is get myself one of those "smart call blocker" phones. I have a BT8500 model. It simply won't ring unless the number's saved in a list I make. It's been really effective, but you do have to add every number that you might want to answer. Honestly, it's worth it for the tranquillity you get!
