We need to make cold calling less worthwhile for these companies if we want it to stop. What I do is save the number into my phone under names like "Annoying Caller" or something similar, so I know when they ring again. Instead of blocking them outright, I let the phone ring and answer quickly, but I don’t actually engage or say anything. This way, the call connects and wastes the dialler’s time and money. If loads of people did this, these companies would find it too expensive to keep pestering us. Just blocking numbers doesn’t really help, as they just pick up new ones and carry on. The government doesn’t really bother as they get some tax from these companies. I’ve got a growing list of about 60 such numbers labelled so I don’t fall for it. Spread the word to your mates - if enough of us do this, hopefully these calls will reduce.
