Got calls from 03330 702722 and 03330702723, a bloke with a Liverpool accent claiming to be from 'RAC', trying to lure me in with some 'Early Bird' deal to renew my car insurance. In the last four days, I've had three dodgy calls (one even pretending to be 'Southern Water') ever since I started using car insurance comparison websites and entered my info. When I rang RAC to check, they said "that’s not us, we don’t run calls like that".

I’ve found out that this number belongs to the RAC. They verified the final digits of my membership and even my email address. After I consented to the renewal, they dispatched my paperwork straight to my RAC app. As it stands, I reckon this number is legitimate.

Some bloke claimed he was from RAC telling me to renew my membership before it runs out, even though I've been with the AA for nearly a year now. When I told him to take me off his call list, he asked for more of my info. I wasn’t giving any more details and told him he should already have them if he was calling about my membership. Then he said I’d have to ring back if I wanted to be removed from their list! Honestly, it sounded like a total scam to me.

This IS RAC alright.. but its the renewals dept that keep harrassing you non-stop mutliple times daily.. even after i phoned up to complain earlier. They should be shut down for their dodgy, ILLEGAL methods. Even after 2 phone calls and being promised they won’t contact me again, they just keep ringing. They claim your direct debit wasnt properly cancelled, and they say cancelling it at the bank doesn’t stop the renewal!! WATCH OUT FOR THESE #### COMPANY’S SHADY BEHAVIOUR...

It was the RAC ringing me about renewing my cover. I can’t really answer calls when I’m working, so had to switch my phone off after they kept ringing three times before lunchtime. They’ve also been sending me emails and letters non stop. I reckon Green Flag is better and cheaper, plus they don’t pester you all the time.

I told him that I certainly would not comply and suggested rather impolitely that he kindly leave me be. What a complete charlatan!
