Dodgy number for sure. I never pick up calls from strangers anymore, if it’s important they’ll try writing or sending a letter. Better safe than sorry!

Got a call this morning, 16th August, that felt like a scam. When I started asking questions, they just ended the call.

My wife's phone got a call and they actually called her by her nickname right away! Definitely some scammer trying to trick her into giving up private info. I've blocked the number on her phone now, though I doubt that'll totally stop them - they'll probably try other ways to get hold of personal details. Is there no way to stop these companies from handing out numbers to scammers? It’s really frustrating :-(

Loads of times this number has rung me up pretending to be OVO, but I’m actually with OVO and checked with them about it. Turns out it’s got nothing to do with OVO, so if you get a call from this number, just ignore it. If you can’t get through to OVO by phone, they do have an email contact. I emailed them once and they called me back the next day.

The people from OVO Collections are relentless, calling you loads of times a day if you don’t pick up. They keep insisting you get in touch with Step Change, even when your debt is too small for them to deal with. Proper hassling, honestly.

Got a call on 30/07/24 at 12:54, picked up but then got stuck in some kind of hold queue, so I just ended the call. Looks like the call centre’s poorly managed. Then today at 09:08 I got another call and they left a very short voicemail, only a couple of seconds, filled with noise and mumbling - not at all professional.

My elderly neighbour, who’s 84, received a call from this number recently. The lady on the phone asked if she’d got his first and last name right, and the moment he confirmed, she just cut the call! Funny thing is, some folks in the comments mention it’s an OVO scam. He got a message from OVO saying he owed them cash, but he actually uses EDF for his energy!

Really creepy how they actually had my address, not just my number, and said I owed money for some kind of “closing account.” When I pushed back and questioned what that even meant, getting a bit louder, she suddenly just cut me off. Honestly, that’s what she deserved. Blocked straight away.

They kept ringing saying I’ve got an Ovo electricity account but that’s not true at all, I’ve never signed up with them. I called back once and could hear people giggling in the background. Told them to quit bothering me but they just won’t stop. Even with the number blocked, they still manage to leave voicemails asking me to get in touch. Proper scammers, if you ask me.

The call originated from South Africa, and I can assure you, it's got nothing to do with OVO. When I challenged the caller, they promptly hung up on me. I got a call on my old landline number and the person was asking for my partner by her first name. We only use mobiles and don’t have a landline. I tried to get the caller to give me her surname but they said it was confidential. Then I asked for just the first letter of her surname and suddenly the call just cut off.
