Got a call from someone claiming to be EE trying to chat about an offer on my account. They never asked for a specific person and when I wanted to know whose account they were wanting to talk about, they just went back to their sales pitch instead of giving me a name. I’m quite sure EE always deals with the account holder directly, so this was definitely a scam.

This bloke was saying something about 5G sim cards because of O2 and Virgin joining up or whatever. He asked for my email right away, and I told him they should already have it. Then he seemed a bit annoyed. I just said, well, why don’t you just send the sim to my address like normal? And then I hung up. Happened to me once before too.

0333 003 8533 FRAUD ALERT I received a rather dubious call claiming to be from O2 and Virgin Media, saying a new SIM card would be arriving within 48 hours, complete with a rather generous complimentary hamper - how lovely! An Asian lady initially delivered this spiel and mentioned that my existing SIM would be rendered inactive. After a brief chat, she handed me over to ‘Dispatch’ where a gentleman took the reins. He then proceeded to request my email for verification, which I firmly declined to provide. I asked him to share the details they had on my account, but he couldn’t manage that. After several repetitive responses on his part, I pointed out how unprofessional it all sounded, suggesting it didn’t have the ring of authenticity about it. I then made it clear I would contact O2 directly to get to the bottom of this myself.

0333 003 8533 - TOTAL SCAM!
I received a call claiming to be from O2/Virgin Media, saying my new SIM card would arrive within 48 hours, accompanied by a lovely complimentary hamper. How charming!

An Asian woman with a strong accent started off by explaining this lovely offer, mentioning my current SIM would be deactivated. Shortly after, she handed me over to someone from ‘Dispatch’.

This chap requested my email for confirmation, which I outright refused to provide. Instead, I asked him to share the details linked to my account - he faltered and couldn’t provide anything. I decided to hang up after his repeated answers started sounding a bit too fishy, and I pointed out that it didn’t strike me as a proper professional interaction with O2. I made it clear I would ring O2 directly to sort this out myself.

This guy named Harry Parker, speaking with a thick Indian accent, rang me up saying O2 are supposedly blocking sim cards all over the place and I had to block mine too. Lately, I've been getting loads of calls supposedly from 3 network but they clearly aren't legit. If you see 03330038533 on your caller ID, just don't bother answering. It’s a waste of time and not worth any effort.

I had a feeling it was some sort of scam, so I just ignored the call and didn’t pick up.

Got a call from someone saying they were ringing on behalf of O2 to see if I was happy with my mobile service. I told them I wasn’t with O2, so I just put the phone down and waited for them to lose interest and hang up. They wasted a few seconds before moving on to bug the next poor person...

I've received two calls from this number, and I ended the calls immediately because the caller claimed to be from O2.
The number in question is
0333 003 8533.
I'd appreciate it if you could spread the word that these folks are scammers.

Received a call purporting to be from O2 or Virgin Media, claiming they were dispatching a new SIM card for their 5G network. They inquired whether I preferred a new number or wished to stick with my current one. The caller then requested I confirm my email address to facilitate sending over a confirmation. I suggested they send it to the email already linked to my account, to which he replied he couldn’t access that information. When I mentioned I wasn’t comfortable sharing details with a caller I didn’t initiate, he simply stated it was my choice and then disconnected! Clearly, this is a scam attempt!

A couple hours after the initial ring, I got a call back from a lady with an Indian accent, this time from a hidden number claiming to be O2 Telefonica. The line was even more garbled than the first call. I just left the phone on the table until they got fed up and ended it. Like someone else suggested in another comment, I sent a message to 7726 saying “Call 0333 003 8533” to report it - you can do it through actionfraud.police.uk/report-phishing. Though, honestly, it feels like a waste since these scammers keep changing their numbers, blocking, and routing calls all over the place.

Just received a call from 0333 003 8533. Once again, it was an Asian woman on the line-most likely of Indian descent.

Got a call from someone saying they were from EE, promising a 30% discount on my bill with no hidden fees. They then passed me over to an "engineer" - who basically just walked across the office to grab the phone. They asked for my email to send a link that would apparently hook into my info, so I decided to mess about a bit. They couldn’t follow what I was saying and ended up swearing at me for “wasting time.” Made for a funny 20 minute break for me on the loo!

Received a call claiming to be from O2, warning me that my connection was at risk due to poor signal issues. They mentioned they’d send me a new SIM card and assured me there's no need for concern. Apparently, I’m also set to get a nice 30% discount! They said it’s all part of an upgrade process too!

I missed the call and they left a voicemail, though I'm not sure if they realised it went to my voicemail. I caught some words that sounded completely foreign-likely another language-but the caller ID claimed it was from the UK. Seems a bit dodgy to me!

So this bloke rings me up claiming I'm with O2, but I’m not. Then he switches to asking if I’m a Virgin customer and insists his data says I use O2. I told him straight up his info’s rubbish and accused him of being a scammer. He just ended the call after that.

This person kept ringing me with a really thick accent I couldn’t make out. I told them several times I didn’t understand but they just kept going on about some big issue with my SIM card.
