Basically, O2 hires us to deal with all sorts of their phone support, like PAYG, contracts, business stuff, and general customer help. So if you ring O2 on 202 for free, you’re really speaking to us. We’re as close to the real O2 as you can get. We use an automatic dialling system. Should your call go to voicemail, we just tag it as 'answered by machine' and your number goes straight back in the queue for another try. When we mention things like early upgrades or paying off your contract, it's an honest offer. No shops can do this since they’re franchises, and live online chat only handles inbound questions as they’re based in South Africa. We’re pretty much as direct as it gets! The web chat crew is situated over in South Africa, and the reality is they can’t dive into your account info until they've established your identity.

Would you really want someone making calls or chatting on your behalf to gain access to your bank details? It's essentially the same scenario!

I get calls from this number several times a day - like, up to three times some days. Once I picked up and it was a bloke from Carphone Warehouse. I told him I wasn’t interested and he just cut me off while I was still talking. Now I just ignore their calls, but they still rang me once last Friday, twice on Saturday, and another two today - all this within a week! Does anyone know how to block this number? They use an automated dialler, so the call only gets to a person once you pick up. So any pause, silence or just someone dropping the call is more of a system fault. It’s not something that happens loads (most of the reviews here seem to be the few times it goes wrong). If you head into a shop (which are mostly franchises!) or ring 202 to talk to an advisor just one desk away in their call centre, you might as well take the call and see what deals they can give you (stuff that the store or retention teams can’t, unless you’ve got an offer already logged by an outbound caller).

Its O2 ringing you. They mightve hired another company to handle calls but at the end of the day its still O2. Loads of daft people here saying its a scam but it really isn’t. If you ring back, theres an automated message telling you to call O2 straight from your phone which shows it’s legit. Cant help people being stupid sometimes.

You think you’re just renewing with O2, but then Carphone Warehouse rings up to say they’re now partners - and before you know it, you’re stuck paying double bills every month! Its actually Carphone Warehouse calling but they say they are from O2, trying to get you to upgrade early. If you go with them, you'll probably find yourself stuck with two contracts or having to pay off your current one completely before you can get a new phone. You can just deal with O2 directly anyway. Dont trust a firm that doesnt tell you straight away who they really are when sorting your contract. They start fibbing the moment you pick up the phone. When they say "Hello, I’m calling from O2," just reply with "No you’re not, goodbye."
