The caller said he was from Consumer Choices (their site is www.consumer-choices.co.uk), which I know is a genuine company that deals with broadband and they do use 0330 numbers. However, this guy was pushy and kept insisting I switch straight away to Talk Talk, which admittedly is a provider Consumer Choices often recommends. But then he told me Talk Talk could use the Virgin fibre optic cable to my home, something Consumer Choices later confirmed isn’t true. What raised alarm bells was when he asked for my bank details to sort the switch instantly - I declined flat out. He kept trying to convince me it was safe to share my bank info, but I held firm.
