WARNING!!! Got a text from Virgin Money saying there was a one-time code for a £1785 GUCCI purchase. I rang Virgin Money straight away to report it. When I dialled 0330 777 8834, someone picked up claiming to be the fraud team at Virgin Money. Always make sure to use the number listed on your official banking app if you need to check anything, never trust texts for calls back.

Got a call supposedly from my bank, saying I’d okayed a payment of £1030 and needed to call straight away. Total rubbish.

Got a message out of the blue claiming it was from Bank of Scotland saying Anna Whitman got a payment of £327.89. It told me to ring 0330 777 2234 if it wasn’t me. Seems like one of those tricky scams trying to grab info in two parts. I don’t even have a Bank of Scotland account so I looked up the number and came across some info, though it wasn’t fresh, so thought I’d share what I found.

Got a text from this number +44 7301 181954 that looked really dodgy. It said something about a code 886545 for a purchase of £1130.98 to HRB LTD supposedly from Halifax. I hadn't made any purchase like that, so I just blocked the contact straight away. If anyone else gets something like that, be careful! They gave a phone number +44 330 777 2234 to call if you didn’t do anything, but I wouldn't risk it. Pretty clear scam to me.

I’ve received a bunch of scam texts like this before so I wasn’t falling for it. Had a look at my bank account and no money had gone out. I’ve blocked the number and reported it straight away!

I got a call from someone claiming to be from the citizens advice centre - he actually said "not bureau" or something like that. The guy, James, said he’d just got my paperwork for loans and credit cards I supposedly owe. I told him straight up, all the details he had about my debts were off. Then he asks me, "So, you don’t want help from the government?" I was like, what help? For debts I don’t even have? This smells like some random company guessing in the dark, not an official government service offering cash back. Definitely a scam.

These individuals masquerade as the Citizens Advice Bureau, disseminating falsehoods. They deny you access to their actual website and resort to deceitful tactics and intimidation in a bid to persuade people into securing an IVA when it’s entirely unnecessary. This behaviour ought to be brought to the attention of Trading Standards.
