Total scam! They pretended to be from Barclays, saying they were verifying a transaction and told me to give them a ring. Just avoid them completely - best to steer clear!

I received a text from 07821224258 supplying me with a one-time password for a supposedly £530 transaction with GC Autos. It mentioned that if I wasn't the one making this purchase, I should get in touch with 0330 533 0417. I've chosen to ignore it and have reported the message as suspicious.

I got a text message the other day containing an OTP for a £480 transaction through Revolut, urging me to ring 0330 533 0417 right away if I didn’t authorise it. I chose to ignore it and reported the number instead. Absolutely appalling behaviour from these scammers!

Barclays has just messaged me with an OTP of 621415 to finish off a transaction for £530 at Argos. If this wasn't me, they're advising to ring them at 0330 533 0417. Seems rather sketchy, doesn't it?!

I recently received a text from this number, and upon calling back, I was greeted by a robotic voice claiming to be from Barclays. The message included a one-time password, supposedly for approving a £730 transaction for something at John Lewis, or instructed me to call the number for further assistance.

Your one-time passcode is 621415, required to finalise a transaction of £730.00 to John Lewis. If you didn't authorise this, do get in touch with us at 0330 533 0417.

I received a text stating, "Your OTP is 621415 for a purchase of £730.00 at J0HN LEWlS." If this isn't you, please ring us at 0330 533 0417. Clearly, this is a scam! John Lewis would never text with "J0HN" instead of "JOHN" - they wouldn't misspell their name like that!

I received a message from 07729 748153 claiming to be from Barclays, stating something about an OTP for an Argos transaction, and instructed to ring 0330 533 0417 if it wasn’t me. I just ignored it because I don’t have an account with Barclays! It’s maddening how these scammers operate. I’ve heard that they meet a pretty grim fate in the afterlife, facing eternal torment... Just an hour back, I secured an Airbnb reservation, and then I received a text from 074840578290 with an OTP, claiming my payment for Airbnb was successful. It also mentioned a 0330 number to ring if I didn’t authorise it. The figure they provided for the transaction seems off, so I’m beginning to think this might be a scam.

Today, I received a text on 01/07/23 indicating that I’d requested a "new card" to be sent to my BN12PG postcode in Brighton. The message urged me to call +443305330417 if I hadn’t initiated the request myself. Clearly, this was a dodgy attempt to fish for my personal banking information, and naturally, I didn't entertain it. I maintain my stance on avoiding online banking altogether. Such scams serve as blatant reminders that traditional, High Street banking is far more secure. Meanwhile, those very same banks are shutting down branches at an alarming pace, all in the name of boosting their profits while leaving their customers to fend for themselves.
