Got a message from NatWest today saying there was a payment try for Argos, nearly 200 quid. They put it on hold on 10/04. They want me to ring 0330 390 0761 if I want to stop it. Don't think I made that purchase though.

Got a text from a mobile number claiming to be Barclays about a £199.99 charge from Argos, just like others have mentioned. Looks really dodgy to me. I’ve blocked the number and made a report here on this website. Definitely be careful, it seems quite risky.

Got a call claiming to be from Santander about a purchase of £199.99 at Argos. Pretty obvious scam, nothing new. These fraudsters really need to be stopped for good.

Got a text warning me about a suspicious transaction on my bank account and telling me to phone a number. Honestly, it sounded pretty legit at first. The people on the other end were quite convincing, but then they sent me a link. I looked at it and realised it was a payment page trying to grab my bank info, so I didn't fall for it.

Got a text saying my bank noticed a £199.99 payment trying to go through to Argos. It told me to ring 03303900761 to stop it. I looked up the number on Who Called Me and it was marked as a scam. Took no chances and locked my accounts plus cancelled my cards just in case.

Last year, scammers swindled more than £1 billion from people here in the UK, as mentioned on some TV shows about phone scams. That's the reason why it’s crucial to report every dodgy call you get. There’s a post here that explains how to use the reporting system created by the government and the police together with phone companies.

WATCH OUT, ITS A SCAM! If you get dodgy texts, make sure to forward them to 7726. Just google ‘7726’ and you’ll find loads about how this reporting system helps catch these fraudsters. There’s a brilliant show on BBC One called Scam Interceptors you can stream on iPlayer, where ethical hackers actually hack into scammers’ setups while they’re trying to rip people off and try to stop it. These con artists use really clever tech which sadly makes it frighteningly simple to steal from people’s bank accounts. Honestly, if you have a phone or bank account, you should give it a watch.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from Nationwide, but something felt off about it. They were trying to sound official, but I wasn’t convinced it was the real deal. Definitely gave me a sketchy vibe!
