Watch out for these lot, I fell for it myself. After the call dropped, a woman rang me back from what seemed like Barclays’ official fraud number, so they've clearly figured out how to fake the numbers that show up on your screen. Last year I found out they use software that can attach fake texts to legit Barclays messages, which makes spotting a scam really tricky since the fraudulent texts appear right alongside the real ones in your messages. Luckily, Barclays noticed the withdrawal they were trying to do just in time, so I managed to avoid losing my money at the last second.

Got a text telling me to ring Barclays fraud team on 0330352110 about a £900 BT direct debit that was apparently arranged on my account. They wanted my phone banking passcode and asked me to have my card reader ready while on the call. That’s when I figured something was off, so I checked Barclays’ official site and saw the number wasn’t legit. Now I’m in touch with their fraud department. Definitely a scam.

I got a text from this number claiming to be Barclays, but it was a complete scam trying to steal my info. They pretend to be legit and ask you to approve something through your mobile banking app or pin sentry, but if you do, they can take money out of your account. When you try to call them back, just be aware they might trick you into revealing bits of your telephone banking password too. If you’ve fallen for it, make sure to get a new card and change all your security codes asap. Total cheating criminals!

Got a text supposedly from Barclays saying there's a £900 direct debit about to be set up with BT. Thing is, I don't even have a Barclays account. Their website actually has a handy little tool where you can check if a phone number is legit, which was quite useful.

Beware, this number is linked to a dodgy phishing or text message scam. It may seem genuine, masquerading as Barclays, but don't be fooled. They’ll prompt you to engage via your PIN Sentry or mobile banking app. Do not oblige, as they’ll exploit that information to siphon off your funds. Moreover, the way they manipulate you into contacting them can inadvertently reveal pieces of your telephone banking passcode. If you find yourself in this predicament, it’s imperative to request a replacement card and alter your passcode immediately. Those unscrupulous crooks won't think twice about it. - caller: Claims to be associated with Barclays
