Just got a couple of texts claiming to be from Southern Water, saying they’ve noticed my water usage has gone up. The number was nearly identical to theirs, but my bill is actually more than 3 weeks overdue now. Bit suspicious if you ask me.

Got a text claiming to be from Southern Water saying my water bill is ready and they noticed a rise in usage. Asked me to ring a number, which smells like a scam to me - the genuine company wouldn’t have my mobile to text like that. I haven’t called it, but if you do, they’ll probably answer pretending to be Southern Water - that’s what these scams do, right? Best bet is to use the contact number on your actual bill if you’re worried.

Today, my wife got a call from someone claiming to be from Southern Water Pro Active. They said they wanted to discuss some changes they’d noticed, which sounded really dodgy to me. We’ve never come across this company before, so I looked up the number and decided not to return the call. Definitely felt off and not trusting it at all.

ive had a couple of calls this past week. one caller told me i had a leak or had left water running for 3 hours and said they needed to come check it out. I told them no thanks, no one is coming into my house since the meters are outside and theres no way they would know if water was left on for ages. meters just show usage anyway. I won’t be phoning that number back cause they wanted me to use voice recognition to confirm who i was by saying yes which sounds super dodgy and could lead to scams.

It was Southern Water ringing about overdue bills. I don't get why people always assume it's some kind of scam. I picked up because I didn’t know the number and quietly waited for them to speak first, like I usually do. When they spoke, I said, “Who’s this?” and they told me it was Southern Water. I asked why they were calling, and they said I hadn’t paid my bill this month. I told them I’m aware, get paid on Tuesday, and will sort it then. Easy as that.
