I got a call from someone claiming to be from a fraud prevention team working with BT. I’d just switched to BT Basics that same week, so I thought it was legit. They told me BT was doing suspicious calls and I believed them. I ended up giving my card info, and they charged me £96.99 for some lifetime cover or something. Turns out it wasn’t from BT at all. Really dodgy!

Recently, my mum received a rather dodgy call from someone named 'Ryan,' who was peddling a service to shield her from unwanted calls. It was blatantly a scam, but unfortunately, she was taken in and ended up parting with £124.99.

Regrettably, I doubt we’ll see that money again, but I really hope this serves as a cautionary tale for others out there.

I recently received a rather alarming call from this lot who were peddling some sort of call protection service. They already had the first four digits of my bank account, which sent my instincts into overdrive. When I mentioned that I’d prefer to ring back on the official customer care number they provided, she insisted I confirm the number back to her. I dutifully repeated the number, 03302232809, only for her to immediately correct me, insisting it was actually 03302232908. At that point, my suspicion levels were through the roof! So, I decided to do a quick online search and lo and behold, SCAM written all over it.

I've just had a rather concerning phone call from this number today - a chap named Neil was on the line. He seemed to know my account password for my phone service and also the first four digits of my debit card! Quite alarming, really. He proposed to eliminate all those pesky nuisance calls for a mere £1.99 a month via direct debit from my bank. However, when he asked for the rest of my card details, it clicked for me that this was likely a scam. I told him I’d call back, and he instantly got quite agitated, so I decided to hang up. After doing a quick search online, it dawned on me that this was indeed a scam. I've had to cancel my debit card now. What a close call! It’s rather shocking how easily one could fall victim to such trickery and end up losing a hefty sum, like £96 from their account, if they weren’t vigilant.

Claimed to be representing CPS and insisted they could cease all cold calling for a single payment of £96. They assured me that I'd receive the paperwork shortly and that the incessant calls would come to an end either within a few days or, at the latest, within 28 days. Quite a peculiar proposition, if you ask me!
