My wife recently received a text containing a one-time code that seemed to authorise a payment exceeding £800 for Airbnb. There was an option to call a number should we suspect any fraudulent activity. Instead, I opted to reach out to the Airbnb Community Support Team. They have taken a screenshot of the message and assured us that their Fraud Team will look into the matter.

I received that identical message earlier today as well!

It seems they're attempting a more inventive approach, as they mentioned an order from Wayfair costing £542.50. They warned me to contact their fraud department if it wasn't me who made the purchase. Surely, these dodgy numbers could be eliminated by the proper authorities? It's a nasty con for those who are caught off guard.

I received a rather suspicious text claiming that a one-time passcode had been sent regarding a payment of £500 to Wayfair. The message advised me to call the number provided if I wasn't the one making the transaction. Naturally, I didn't bother ringing the number and suspected it was a scam right away! I hastily deleted the message without a second thought!

I've just got this notification. Had a peek at my bank account, and thankfully, there's no sign of any money going out. Clearly a SCAM or a PHONY alert: Your One-Time Passcode is 270796 for a transaction of £542.50 to ROBERT DYAS - REF: HS384BS4. If you didn't authorise this, don't hesitate to ring our fraud helpline at 0330 190 1049.

I received a rather peculiar text claiming to be from AIRBNB, requesting my confirmation for a payment of £542.50. They included a contact number, 03301901049, suggesting that if it wasn't me, I should get in touch. It felt decidedly fishy, so I decided to do a bit of research on the number. In the end, I opted to delete the message altogether.

I recently received a message from this number requesting that I verify a substantial purchase using a code. Curious, I rang it back and it seemed to be associated with HSBC, although it wasn’t the emergency hotline mentioned in the text. Given that I don’t even hold an active account with HSBC, I can only assume this is a scam!
