Received a ring from a bloke who started off saying he was calling about a problem I supposedly reported at my house or something like that. I asked for his full name and the company he was from, but he just said Adam and nothing else. I quickly ended the chat, telling him I hadn’t reported any issues and thought he’d got the wrong number or was some sort of scammer. What was strange is the way he replied, almost like a robot, repeating what I said about the wrong number in a weird voice. Guess he wasn’t human, and he definitely didn’t come clean about being a scammer.

Some bloke called claiming he was from a tenancy repairs company wanting to discuss some problems I supposedly reported. I humoured him by asking what exactly I’d mentioned, and he just repeated the same spiel. I told him nicely I wasn’t up for chatting with scammers, and he suddenly said they must’ve dialled the wrong number. The odd silences and weird sounds between his words made me think it was one of those advanced AI voices - definitely watch out for these!

So I got a call from someone called Sam claiming to be from British Gas. He was asking if I thought my British Gas service could be improved, including the electricity side of things. He mentioned an agent would ring me back whenever it was convenient for me. He asked how I pay the bills, if I was the account holder, and for my last name. I told him I pay it myself and that I'm a council tenant. Gave him my surname and told him I’m doing alright, don’t need any agent calling me back at all!

Though it might be legit, it felt like a scam to me, same old tricks. I just said no thanks and didn’t share anything. These days, it’s hard to know who’s for real!
