Just got a text from Barclays saying a payment of £69.99 to NIX PLUMBING CO on 27/3/5 was stopped. It asked me to enter OTP489920 to finish the transaction. It looked dodgy so I called 03301334023 to check and yep, total scam!

Had a really hard time understanding 'em, their English was all over the place!

As soon as I picked up, they hung up on me. Sounds like one of those automatic power diallers, which most decent companies have stopped using nowadays.

I just got a call from a number very similar to 0330 174 0253, but ending in 53 instead of 33 like mentioned here. An automated message came through about some housing problems supposedly reported. I told them I hadn’t made any complaints and asked how they got my contact info. The automated voice kept asking about mould and other housing concerns. When I asked if it was a robot, they said no, but sounded totally automated to me. I ended the call and checked the number online… and found this thread.

Yeah, that seems right. They said they were ringing about some damp or mould issue I supposedly told my council or housing association about, but I told them they’d got the wrong number since I actually own my own place. The person on the end sounded like they were in a really noisy call centre and I could hardly make out what they were saying.
