Got a text claiming to be from Nationwide saying someone tried to spend over £2000 on Booking.com with my card. The message told me to call a certain number if it wasn’t me. So, I rang the number on the back of my debit card to check, and Nationwide confirmed it was a scam. The text was sent from a regular mobile number, not an official one. Watch out for this!

Honestly, this number’s still running even though it’s clearly a scam. Looks like no one’s really flagged it yet. I saw a comment a few days back, not far down from here, that explains exactly how to handle it. Feels worrying thinking about how many poor folks might’ve lost money by replying to those messages.

Got a message from a mobile phone saying a new payee was added to my Barclays account and £960 was going out at 10pm. It said to ring an 03301 number if that wasn’t right. I chose not to bother calling.

Got a dodgy text saying there was unusual activity on my card, supposedly from MBNA. But the message came from some random mobile number, not MBNA's official one. It had an 0330 contact number too, which I’m sure was just another trick by the scammers. I just blocked the number and reported it straight away.

Got a dodgy text pretending to be from Nationwide Building Society about a new payee being added to my account saying I should call if it wasn’t me. Be careful and don’t call the number they give!

Just checking in to say the comment three posts above here really nails what you should do if you want to stop these scam calls for good. They're not just a pain, they can really mess with people's heads, especially those who are vulnerable. Losing money is bad enough but the stress and worry from being tricked is often way worse. We need everyone to make sure they report every single scam call or text to every possible authority. Only then can we start beating these scammers at their own game.

Got a text about a blocked credit card payment supposedly from MBNA, asking me to ring a number close to this one 0330 133 8370. Seemed dodgy to me since the number isn’t linked to MBNA and it was sent from a mobile phone. Feels like a classic spam message.

Got a message claiming to be from Nationwide about sending money, but it felt dodgy. I never asked for any transfers, so I’m pretty sure it was a scam. Be careful with these texts, they’re trying to trick people out of cash. Always double check before doing anything with your bank details!
