Oh blimey, this particular number has been relentless, calling me nearly twenty times in just the past few weeks at all sorts of hours - daytime or dead of night! While I was busy at work today, I stumbled upon this little gem. A number dialled in, and as the administrator for a security company, I certainly wasn't expecting a scam attempt! The caller initiated with a feeble introduction, mentioning a name and bringing up Santander, all while the line sounded utterly dreadful. Instead of providing any real context or explaining that there had been a fraudulent incident-something those pesky automated Santander calls tend to do-they straight away asked for my card details. So, we went ahead and called the bank, but this time we used a DIFFERENT PHONE. It turns out that if the caller is up to no good, they might keep the line open and even play a fake dialling tone, which could trick you into thinking you’re talking to the bank and inadvertently reveal all your personal information! As it happens, the real bank hadn’t tried to reach us at all, so we’re definitely going to block that number!
