Some bloke named Giles kept ringing me, saying my telly insurance ran out. Problem is, we never had any insurance and there isn’t even a telly in the office! He was pretty stubborn, kept ringing back again and again. He then tried to push through some made-up credit card details and bank account numbers that obviously didn’t add up. After about an hour of messing about, I told the guy to get lost. Then he had the nerve to scold me for being rude. Honestly, he can do one.

Several companies including Domestic Support Ltd, Home Sure Solutions Ltd, Seaview Brokers Ltd, UK Appliance Cover Ltd and UK Platinum Home Care Services Ltd have been hit with fines totalling £405,000 from the Information Commissioner’s Office. They were making persistent nuisance calls to elderly and vulnerable folks, pushing home appliance warranty offers. Interestingly, three of these businesses operated out of Sussex. Fingers crossed there’ll be more crackdowns, hopefully resulting in some criminal charges.

Warning! Service monkey has put in yet another request to be taken off the register voluntarily. If you’ve been scammed by them, you gotta send your complaints to Companies House again before they manage to disappear! This is a classic move scammers use to dodge responsibility.

Yeah, I’ve heard he’s also been caught nicking office furniture before.

I heard somewhere they left their offices without settling the rent and were using the landlords' addresses as their official office locations without telling them.

Actually, their original office was on London Road at Vantage Point, not Towerpoint as some might think.

It’s obvious they don’t care about playing by the rules, vanishing just as their rent was due at their Tower Point office. To make matters worse, they nicked the furniture and switched their registered address to the Ledenhall Building in London’s city centre (also called the Cheesegrater). Funny thing is, that’s where big companies like Aon and Brit Insurance have their HQ, not some dodgy outfit featured on Rip Off Britain, let alone one run by a bus driver!

Sharing a customer's payment details with another firm without permission is not just a data protection issue - it actually breaks the law. Even worse, if that info is then used to take money from someone who hasn't authorised the transaction, that's straight-up fraud!

Nathan Cook currently serves as the Director at Igloo Direct. Before this role, he held the position of Director at Service Monkey. He also had directorships at Appliance Hub and the Property Valuation Office, though both of those companies have since been dissolved.

Honestly, Sturgess the bus driver and his crew of idiots deserve to be behind bars. You can tell from Trustpilot reviews that Sturgess handed over Service Monkey’s customer info to Igloo Delivery, trying to con folks yet again. Definitely a big breach of data protection laws.

It seems like company bosses are handled like they're nothing but throwaway assets. We really need new laws to keep a better eye on those running businesses.

It's a bit misleading to say Service Monkey changed its name. Actually, there’s a new firm called Igloo Direct that was set up, and Sturgess isn’t listed as a Director there. However, the person who is Director at Igloo Direct does seem to have links to Sturgess.

Just a heads up, Rob Sturgess seems to have switched up the business name from Service Monkey to Igloo Direct Ltd, now located in Brighton. From what I’ve seen in the newest Trustpilot reviews for Service Monkey at 0800 005 1203, they’re still targeting older folks with their scams. Stay alert, people!

Honestly, do these folks not realise how daft they're being? Getting shown on Rip Off Britain is anything but good publicity. It’s not some clever advertising tactic - it’s straight up being called out, embarrassed, and put in the spotlight in front of a massive audience. No one tuning in is thinking, “Yeah, I’ll call them for an extended warranty now.” They’re just making themselves look a right joke.

LATEST UPDATE - House Guard UK Limited has been slapped with a hefty £150,000 fine after they were caught making unwanted calls to people on the Telephone Preference Service list. They’ve got until 12 March 2021 to cough up the money. Regulators aren't taking this lightly and will keep cracking down hard on firms that ignore the rules. It’s really important for anyone getting these pesky calls to make sure they report them to Trading Standards, the Telephone Preference Service, and the ICO.

I'm fairly certain Brighton got hit with a bus ticket scam just last year, you'd think they'd come up with something new by now. Also, whatever became of that equity release scheme they were pushing?

Loads of their businesses list Kemp House as the address, but it’s just a virtual office - they’re not actually operating from there. Like you said, this really complicates trying to track them down. These people are terrible, setting up companies to scam money and then shutting them down quickly afterwards. Their behaviour is totally sketchy; I’ve never come across so many folks creating and closing companies at such a rapid pace. I’d reckon the cops are watching them closely, and I really hope they end up facing proper criminal prosecution.

Considering how they’ve been before, it’s pretty unlikely they’d suddenly start running a legit and trustworthy bus service.

Honestly, you’ve got to chuckle at this one. I reckon the bus scam could be something like slapping on some B and H city paint on a battered old car, then popping round to a few spots in Old Forest Home, charging folks ten quid just for a quick there-and-back ride. Crazy stuff lol.

I got a call from Sussex Minibus Company Limited, but couldn’t find any official website for them anywhere. Their registered address is actually a flat in Brighton, which struck me as odd - you'd think a minibus company would have some sort of depot or garage, not just a residential place. The address they gave is Flat 12 Martlett House, 33-35 Springfield Road, Brighton BN1 6DF. Makes me wonder if someone named Sturgess might be living there!

From what I’ve seen, every biz connected to the director uses dodgy stolen info, mainly hitting older folks, those who are vulnerable and disabled. Blimey, I just checked out the TripAdvisor ratings and honestly, it’s way worse than I expected. They actually went as far as posting a fake comment, claiming they take great care of the elderly - what cheek!

We played a jolly little trick on everyone, and honestly, we had a right laugh doing it!

I found HML Consultant Limited (hmlconsultant[###]) operates from the same spot as CDS Assured Limited, which started up in Jan 2020. They've got the domain cdsassured[###] but it doesn’t seem to be active yet. Both seem to offer similar services, which is a bit suspicious.

They have no clue just how closely they're being observed or how many people around them are actually spying. Only time will reveal the truth!

It’s quite apparent that there’s been a swell of dissent over the dissolution of Service Monkey. I can only imagine that the inbox at Companies House is positively overflowing with messages, leaving their team to ponder just what in the world is going on. All these objections should surely act as a warning bell for Companies House, prompting them to look into matters further. These charlatans have been pulling the wool over the public's eyes for far too long, behaving as if it’s all some sort of farce. Your callous actions wreak havoc, instilling fear and distress among innocent citizens, particularly preying on the elderly and those who are more susceptible. It’s no laughing matter to swindle hard-earned money from the most vulnerable. Those involved in this shameful affair ought to be thoroughly embarrassed. It is my fervent hope that the authorities take this seriously and investigate fully, leading to appropriate charges being laid.

oh mr cheese moon dude, if you were a bit slow in the head i guess it’d make you an easy target. honestly, i reckon you’re the scammer yourself and that’s pretty shameful. especially with how often you brag about what you’ve done!

It's a real shame, but as we've always warned, potential buyers ought to tread carefully. If it were within our means, we'd gladly return funds to everyone impacted. Unfortunately, due to the sheer volume of grievances we've received, we've had no choice but to shut our doors for good, leaving us unable to issue any refunds. So very sorry about this situation. 😟

Honestly, I reckon that nasty remark about the moon being made of cheese must’ve come from one of these scam artists. What’s wrong with folks who enjoy tricking the defenceless and then making fun of them afterwards? It’s absolutely disgusting behaviour, and anyone involved should be feeling proper ashamed. These crooks act like they’re above the law, but I’m convinced that sooner or later, people who do harm like this will be caught and face real consequences.

If you fell victim to a scam by Service Monkey and want your cash back, you should consider lodging an objection with Companies House against the firm's closure request. Just drop an email to [email protected], explaining you’re objecting and why, for example, because you were scammed and expect a refund, or you bought a 2 or 3 year warranty which won’t be honoured if the company shuts down.

Honestly, it's crazy how some folks fall for anything... by the way, did you know the moon's actually made of cheese? No joke!

I've recently been informed that Service Monkey has submitted a request to Companies House to wind up their operations and stop trading altogether. Yet, there are several issues at play that render this request in violation of sections 1004 and 1005 of the Companies Act 2006. Consequently, I plan to file an objection with Companies House. This action should prompt the appropriate authorities to look into the matter, halt the dissolution process, and ensure the Company is held responsible for any outstanding debts, as well as any payments received for services they clearly have no intention of delivering.

I just found out that Service Monkey has put in an application to Companies House to close down the company and stop trading. But, because of a few issues, this request breaks sections 1004 and 1005 of the Companies Act 2006. I'm going to file a formal objection with Companies House. Hopefully, this will let the proper authorities look into things, stop the shutdown process, and make sure the company deals with any debts or money they've taken for services they won’t actually deliver.

Same here, I keep an eye on the news every week hoping these scammers get called out right on the front pages of the papers.
