Not only that, but they left behind voice messages and texts urging me to use some code they provided, insisting I activate it within a mere ten minutes. The caller ID displayed as PayPal, but let’s be honest - PayPal wouldn’t repeatedly ring me like this!

Total scam. They try to make a payment from your bank account using stolen info. Then you get a legit text from your bank with a code to confirm the payment. After that, these scammers ring you from this number and say you need to enter the code to stop the fake transaction - but actually it authorises it. Never give them the code. Just block the number and ignore any calls.
