I just got a ring from a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from ‘Smart Phone.’ She wanted to sell me an upgrade to an iPhone. I told her I’m not a fan of iPhones, so then she switched to offering a Samsung. I mentioned I was fine with my Nokia, thanks. She kept going on and on, so I cut her straight off saying, “Sorry, but sounds like a scam. Bye!” Then I blocked the number. Watch out for these calls - they’re definitely not legit!

I received a call from them recently regarding a mobile contract offer.

To my astonishment, the operator blatantly flouted GDPR guidelines by revealing my email address and postcode.

I promptly informed her that this was in violation of data protection laws, as typically we are asked to provide such information for verification purposes.

Honestly, you’d have to be quite foolish to fall for that sort of nonsense...

And as a cherry on top, she asked if I wasn't interested in a new phone after I pointed out the GDPR breach.

Once again, I reiterated that she was contravening the regulations, to which she curtly responded with a casual “oh, alright, bye,” before disconnecting.

A true embodiment of utter incompetence, really.
