While browsing with Bing, I got this alert from a picture option that even had sound saying "don’t turn off your computer". It also locked my computer saying someone was using my IP address and it was trying to protect it. Absolute nonsense! You can just shut down and reboot with no issues at all. Or you can just close the window like normal. Whatever you do, don’t ring 0330 055 4910 - it’s a total scam. Calling that number and doing what they say hands over full access to your PC and all your info.

I reckon this number is tied to one of those nasty pop-ups claiming your computer’s blocked and you need to ring Microsoft at once. Honestly, just don’t click anything on that screen or dial the number. The quickest fix I found is to hold down your power button for about 8 seconds till the PC shuts off, or just cut the power and restart. Yeah, you might lose some unsaved stuff, but that’s way safer than dealing with the scam. This happened to me after messing about on a Bing site, but after rebooting, I ran a virus scan and everything was fine.

I got this scary blue pop-up on my screen with a white shadow, saying that someone had been using my computer through my IP and that it got blocked to keep it safe. It asked me to call a Microsoft number, 03300554910. Luckily, my mate told me it was a scam. I'm 83 and that really frightened me! Surely, there must be a way to stop these scammers?

Got a warning on my PC saying it was blocked and to call Microsoft tech support at this number. Didn’t ring them though, called Knowhow’s computer help instead. They helped us get rid of the message and told us it was totally a scam.

Twice now, I ended up here after clicking a news story on Bing's front page. Never again, honestly! Luckily, Norton blocked any dodgy stuff from coming through. If you wanna report anything like this, just search 'action fraud' on Google and hit the 'police.uk' website. They’ve got a section on how to report bad websites or sketchy phone numbers, really helpful.

Should your computer freeze, try pressing the keys: "Control, Alt, Delete." Following that, select the option to "shut down." Once it's powered off, you can start it afresh.

I recently received an alarming notification on my screen from Microsoft, claiming that spyware was found on my laptop and cautioning me not to log off or power down my device. It instructed me to ring a number urgently. They attempted to gain control of my laptop, but thankfully, I managed to halt their efforts. Please, whatever you do, steer clear of that number! It's clearly a ploy to access your computer and pilfer your personal information.
