Got a message saying there was a one-off code for a purchase at Argos worth £470, telling me to ring the fraud team. Pretty sure it's a scam, same as others have said.

Got a message from some unknown number (07752019969) saying it was my one-time password for buying something worth £523.99 at Argos. It added if I hadn't made that purchase, I should ring a fraud department on 03300272181. I've just ignored both numbers and haven't bothered to call.

I received a message claiming to be from ARGOS regarding some sort of one-time passcode nonsense. It's clearly a scam!

I received a message from +447752009369 claiming to be from HSBC, saying someone tried to pay £470 to Argos and asking for a passcode. The text told me to call their fraud team at 0330 0272181 if I hadn’t made the purchase. I don’t have an HSBC account and certainly never bought anything from Argos. It’s obviously a scam, so I didn’t bother calling either of the numbers provided. I’d say avoid both for sure.

Got a text claiming to be from HSBC saying there was a £450 payment to Argos on my account. It told me to ring a number if I hadn’t made it. I didn’t bother calling at all.

Got a text saying I should ring this number about a £250 purchase from Boots. Unless they've started selling loads of shampoo and toothpaste in bulk, that can't be right. Didn't bother calling back.

I got a text saying it was HSBC asking me to verify a payment, with a number to ring if I didn’t make it. Definitely a scam, not real at all.

I received a text about a direct debit attempt for £430 from LR Motors. Gave my bank a ring and turns out it’s a scam. Be cautious!

Don't fall for scams! The best way to fight back is to do your bit by blocking suspect numbers and reporting them. You can text details of scam calls to '7726' - if lots of people report the same number, it can set off alerts across networks. For spam texts, forward them to '7726' too, but also send screenshots over to '[email protected] for elsewhere in the UK. Stay safe out there!
