The caller knew my name right away, but when I asked how they'd got my number, they just claimed I had signed up for a subscription I definitely didn’t. I told them I wasn’t interested and hung up straight away.

Got a call from some bloke claiming he was from Haringey council, telling me the council cleared the path outside my place or something, but I haven’t got a clue what he was on about. Never gave my landline to the council, so how on earth did he get my number? Fishy as hell!

They called and asked straight for my full name, then wanted my date of birth and address to “verify” me. I wasn’t about to hand that info over. When I asked what this was about, they said they couldn’t explain unless I confirmed my address and DOB first.
