I got a call from Durban but not sure who it was, and honestly the connection was so bad I couldn’t even say hello properly. Felt like it might be one of those calls trying to get you to activate something as soon as you answer. I’m with FNB too and use my phone number for mobile banking, so it made me a bit wary. Hope things get better with all the scams and dishonesty happening here in South Africa soon.

On the 30th of March 2017, I got a call from this number. Some bloke said he was from FNB and wanted to talk about a SIM card. I was a bit tied up and told him so, but he said he’d ring back later. Strangely, he already had my FNB account number. Not long after, I noticed R250 had been taken out of my account at an FNB ATM in Highpoint - a place I’ve never even heard of before.

Got a call claiming to be from FNB but they messed up the last 4 digits of my cheque number. I told them to ring me back later, but now I’m not giving out any details on the phone. Big thanks to the person who made this site - with Christmas coming up, scammers seem to be everywhere. Seriously, have a look at this page and never share your info with random callers. I got a call from the same number and the bloke on the line was really unpleasant. When I said I wasn't interested, he tried guessing the last four digits of my account, but he was way off. I told him if I ever wanted a SIM card or anything like that, I'd just pop into the FNB branch myself. Then he got all aggressive, saying I don’t have to go there anyway. It felt like they already had some of my banking info or something. He even asked for my date of birth and the last four digits of my card, which made me suspicious. I never agreed to answer any of his questions. You know how it is these days, scammers are everywhere trying to steal from us. The guy said he'd be sending me two SIM cards from an address they have on their system, which sounds dodgy to me.
