Indeed, we experienced a similar situation. The call seemed to originate from an Asian call centre, and it appeared that these individuals were trying to pitch some sort of phone service to us. We asked how they obtained our number since we’re on the Telephone Preference Service list, but we really struggled to make sense of her response. In any case, we made it clear that we weren’t interested and hoped this would put an end to it.

She then asked me what my name was, but I simply told her that wasn't relevant since she clearly didn't have our details. There was no reason for her call to concern us, and I decided that our conversation was at an end. She apologised for the inconvenience, and I hung up the phone.

Honestly, it feels like high time the telecom providers introduced a feature not just for the standard 1471 service, but a dedicated 1471 Block number option! It’d make life so much easier!

He completely disregarded our request, diving straight into his scripted pitch. We kept interjecting, repeatedly asking to be removed from their list, yet he stubbornly claimed he’d ring us back the following day. We told him firmly that these sorts wouldn't dare to do that, urging them to take us off their list. In response, he told us to 'shut up' before abruptly hanging up. We just received a call from this number, and surprisingly, we actually managed to have a conversation with a person. They seemed to have a different name associated with the number and then tried to encourage us to use our broadband for making calls. We made it clear that we weren’t keen on that idea at all.

I’ve just had yet another call and felt compelled to share my experience. An Asian gentleman rang up requesting a person who doesn't reside at this number. He repeated our number back to us, claiming that this mystery individual could assist us. He described himself as an independent consultant aiming to secure the best rates for gas, electricity, and water. However, it was clear that she isn’t affiliated with any of the companies. We informed him that we prefer to look for deals ourselves and that we didn't need any assistance. At that point, she abruptly hung up on us! It’s infuriating, especially as we were just settling in for a cosy evening! I’ll be ready for them next time!
