Got a call from someone pretending to be my bank, saying they were freezing a payment temporarily. I double-checked by ringing my bank, but they said they hadn’t sent any messages like that. Total scam!

My girlfriend received a text claiming to be from "Barclays Bank" saying there was a dodgy transaction on her account and if she didn't authorise it, she had to ring a number. She phoned the number and gave them all her details. After she told me, I made her contact Barclays proper and as expected, they had no clue about it. Now her account’s been locked and she’s got to wait until they send a new card out.

Got a text saying there was an unauthorised request on my American Express card. I rang AMEX straight away and they said there was no odd activity at all. Turns out it was one of those phishing scams trying to trick me.
