My phone rings and the moment I pick up, the call just goes dead - no one says a word.

I reckon it's some automated system checking if the number is actually in use?

Simply answering, even without saying anything, probably flags your number as active; then they add it to a database that’s sold off to loads of telemarketers. Suddenly, you get bombarded with calls about PPI (which I’ve already dealt with), or claims about a car accident from decades ago (I haven’t had one in forever!), or work-related injury claims (I've been retired for years!), or supposed recent negligence claims (not true at all!).

Just my gut feeling, but this happens all the time! :-(

I swear I have more blocked numbers than actual contacts on my phone now (bit depressing, haha)! The list just gets longer and it’s so frustrating!

I keep getting calls from this number on my phone, like on 5th June 2017, but they never leave a voicemail or anything. Just rings and then stops.

I dont get it, it just cuts off as soon as you pick up. What’s the use in that?
