Some automated robot called me saying I was involved in tax fraud and demanded I press 1 fast or I'd get arrested soon. This is definitely a con, since there's no way I'm doing any fraud. Quite suspicious.

I got a call from a woman, maybe Indian, who was yawning like she wasn’t even bothered to be professional. She told me I was being taken to court for some kind of tax fraud and that I’d be arrested soon. This caught me off guard as I’ve no idea what she was talking about - I’ve always paid my taxes properly and been honest. She had my name right and asked for my address, which I gave her. Then she seemed keen to end the call, but I asked why I was being targeted and all she did was keep saying I’d committed fraud and was heading to court. Can anyone explain what this rubbish is about? Cheers.

Today I got a call telling me I supposedly had an arrest warrant over some unpaid tax. I’m on PAYE full-time, so that immediately sounded wrong. They tried to keep me on the phone to ‘sort it out’, but no way was I falling for it. After checking the reviews here, I’m convinced it’s just another scam. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now!

I called 03030312322 thinking it was the Inland Revenue, but part way through the call I got passed onto 09037080400. Afterwards, I saw a charge of £65.15 for 17.37 minutes on my bill. Honestly, I’m pretty angry about it. Surely there’s supposed to be some sort of shield against these dodgy calls? I had no clue at any point that it might be a scam.

I noticed this number on my phone bill sandwiched between another one (09037089402). The other number only cost a few pence, but we got charged over £70 even though nobody used the landline at all during those calls. We all mostly use mobiles and hardly ever pick up the landline - most calls are stuff like PPI scams or similar. We're quite anti-social actually and prefer texting or emailing over calls. Our Sky landline bills usually come to less than £5, so this was well out of the ordinary. They said they’ve investigated the calls and say we’re responsible for the charges. After a bit of digging, I found out loads of people have had similar issues linked to the number in between on the bill. It’s like the middle number shows the line was active when clearly it wasn’t. It's quite frustrating!

Beware of this A2B Telecom Ltd scam number that shows up at the very top when you Google for HM Passport Office. They have a dodgy "ad" displaying a green bold 0903.... number. Do NOT call the number from the ad or that 0903 one. I ended up getting charged £30.68 for an 8 minute 20 second call that got cut off and didn’t even connect me to the Passport Office. Then, when I tried again on their 0903 number, I got billed £23.69 for a 6 minute 26 second call. Completely shocking that a government service seems tied to this scam. Eventually, I did manage to reach someone, but it looks like the Passport Office hasn’t blocked these scammers despite previous complaints and the fact this company was prosecuted back in 2008! Absolutely disgraceful!

Got an email claiming I’m due a refund from HMRC, but it definitely looks like a scam. The message had loads of spelling mistakes and asked for personal info, so I just deleted it. Wouldn’t trust anything like that coming through email!
