Got the same spiel as loads of others, sounded like a southern accent. Got a voicemail from a lady with a Chinese accent saying she was calling from the HSE about a COVID spot check. The phone number she left doesn’t show up on the official HSE site. From what I’ve read in the other comments, this looks like a scam. The HSE have made it clear they won’t ever ask for your bank info on the phone, like some others have pointed out here.

This number isn't the one listed for the HSE on their official site. To add to the confusion, I received an email shortly after that came from an address that doesn’t even end in .gov.uk. I’ve come across some dodgy schemes online related to COVID-19 spot checks, and it seems some folks believe this is a sort of survey intended to take the place of the HSE inspections the Government committed to. Tomorrow, I plan to ring the proper HSE number, as I have a reference from the email they sent me. Interestingly, the caller from today is supposedly going to ring back tomorrow? What a palaver!

One of the biggest nuisances of our time has gotta be these unwanted scam calls. Sadly, even when a genuine caller rings, you’re left wondering if it’s legit or not. Until the law can crack down on these dodgy characters, it’s not gonna stop. There’s just way too many calls popping up these days, I barely pick up anymore.

The caller asked if they were speaking to xxxx from company xxxx. I replied with "Who is this?" and they said, "Thanks for confirming that," even though I hadn't confirmed anything. Then they claimed they were calling from the HSE to check on covid precautions we have. I told them I thought it was a scam and hung up. They insisted, "We’re not a scam," but I wasn’t having it. If they want to share covid info, they can send it by post. I’m pretty sure it’s dodgy. If they call again, I might just play along a bit, though I won’t give them any real details.

Got a call from somebody saying they were from the HSE asking if we were following Covid-19 rules? A relative got the same call, with the person saying they needed to send 'important documents' (which had viruses) to their email. Watch out for these!

Got a call from someone claiming they were from the HSE wanting to confirm if our place was covid secure. I asked them to prove their identity, and they just asked what kind of proof I wanted. I told them to send an email as evidence but they said they couldn’t. So, I ended the call. Seems a bit dodgy to me, maybe a scam?

Got a missed call earlier with no voicemail, so I looked them up here after reading what others said. They rang me again today, and I picked up without checking the number since I hadn’t blocked it yet. Turns out everything was fine - just a bit annoying going over all the measures we’ve put in place to stay covid safe, but happy to see it’s all good.

Someone rang me regarding my company, so I looked it up straight away on the HSE site (cheers Google!), and it turned out to be legit.

I looked up the number 03007906896 on the HSE site after getting a call. Turns out the woman who rang me is with one of their subcontractors. She's basically contacting companies to discuss their Covid-19 safety rules, offering advice and guiding them to useful resources to help boost workplace safety. Sounds pretty genuine to me!

I decided to email the HSE after seeing what others had said here - best to get the truth straight, right? Turns out this number is completely genuine, it’s for COVID safety compliance checks. So yeah, it’s one you should definitely pick up. Honestly, the first time using this site, I can confidently mark it as “Safe” without any doubt!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from hse, asking about our corona precautions. Told them the boss wasn’t around right now, and they wanted to know when he’d be back. Then straight away, they said if the boss doesn’t answer next time, it would count as failure to engage. When I asked them to explain, they just kept repeating the same thing. Gave them my mobile just to see what happens, and they said they’ll ring tomorrow. If they do, I’m gonna mess around with them for as long as I can. Feels like a total scam to me.

Got a call from the Health and Safety Executive just now, seemed pretty legit. They were checking if the workplace has all the Covid safety rules in place. Felt like a proper official call, not a scam or anything shady.

I never pick up calls from unfamiliar numbers so I have no clue who this might be. If it was someone who really wanted to get hold of me, they’d leave a voicemail - which, of course, they never do!
