Got some dodgy emails saying I’ve got to renew my TV licence or else. Proper threatening tone, felt like a scam to me. Didn’t click on anything, just ignored them. Be careful out there, anyone else had this?

Hey, it’s not a scam, it’s genuinely from TV licensing.

This is totally a scam. Before calling back any number that rings you claiming to be from a company, it's best to look up the real customer service phone number on their official website first. Don't trust strange numbers right away!

I received quite a remarkable email from the TV licence folks linked to this number. They stated that if I didn’t reach out, a TV licence inspector would be popping round in Guilford. It struck me as peculiar since I actually reside overseas. My brother suggested I do a bit of digging on the number, and I wasn’t at all shocked to discover it's a scam!

I never actually got a call, just got an email supposedly from TV licensing. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t legit though. Even if it was real, it feels like harassment since I’ve already told them in writing that I don’t need a TV licence. They keep sending emails from this number that sound really intimidating. I can imagine it would scare older folks or anyone more vulnerable.

The boyfriend of my daughter got this letter too, and when I quickly read through it, it was clear something wasn’t right. I honestly can’t put into words how terrible these scumbags are, trying to scam innocent folks like that.

Got an email from the TV licence folks threatening fines and saying inspectors would visit my hair salon. The email looked proper convincing, even had a bit about how to spot scams. Thankfully, the link to the phone number was dead, so I made sure to look up the number myself before making any calls.

Got a few emails saying I hadn’t paid my TV licence, even tho I’ve moved away from that place years ago and have a proper licence for my current home. One of the emails even threatened to send someone to my old address. I shot back a pretty blunt reply telling them to buzz off.

Got a letter saying I needed to call about an unpaid TV licence. Everything seemed proper and official, but it was sent to someone who passed away a few years back. Made me look it up first before I even thought about ringing. Just a heads up to be careful.

I got a letter saying my tv licence direct debit had been cancelled for non payment and I had just 10 days to pay up. Thing is, the direct debit has actually been taken out alright. I'm gonna ring the official tv licence folks to sort this out.

Got a letter about my TV licence which said, "Not much time, so we'll be quick." Can't imagine the real TV licensing folks writing something so badly. Feels like someone with very poor English just banged it out.

So, I got this email about owing for a TV Licence for a place I don’t live in anymore, and it had a phone number on it. I rang the number and spoke to someone, but something felt off so I looked up the number online. That’s when I found out on this site that it’s supposed to be a scam or dodgy! I ended the call straight away and dialled a different official TV Licence contact. When I asked about the first number, the person said it wasn’t theirs at all! But then it turned out the email was legit, and she could see the previous call I’d dropped! Quite confusing, really.

I got an email, and it’s definitely a total rip-off. The sender’s address was something like [email protected][###]. Proper scammers. When I asked them some questions, they just stopped replying twice. If you wanna check before you reply, do a ‘reply all’ and you’ll spot the email address above - it’s dodgy for sure. Cheers!

I never got a phone call, but I did get a letter showing this number, saying I owed money for a TV licence. So I looked up the official TV licensing contact on their website and rang them instead. They told me the letter was a fraud, a proper scam. The number is super similar to the real TV licence one, just one digit off, so it really tricks you. Definitely don’t ring that number thinking it’s legit. 100% a scam.
