Complete scam, best to avoid any chat with them. They kept telling the same old tales like everyone else on here mentioned already.

I got a call for my other half from someone claiming to be with Monzo’s fraud team. When my partner explained he hasn’t used Monzo in like 4 years, they just told him to buzz off. After that they kicked off, shouting loads of rude stuff at him.

Somebody rang me claiming to be from Barclays. As soon as I told them I don't have an account with Barclays, they just ended the call. Pretty obvious that was a scam.

got a call earlier claiming to be Barclaycard fraud dept. They wanted me to confirm my name, which I gave them. Then they asked if I’d authorised a direct debit to phones for you. Told ’em I’d not used my card, it’s been locked away and unused for ages. Suddenly, the call just cut off. Once I got home, I checked my Barclaycard online and there's nothing unusual on it.

I got a call from a withheld number claiming to be Starling Bank. They told me some company was trying to withdraw money from my account. I checked my banking app and couldn’t see anything that had been paid or cancelled. I told them to ring me back on my proper landline. Later, I saw a missed call from 03005008082 but didn’t pick up. Instead, I rang my bank directly, and they said they never called me and no transactions were attempted on my account. I’ve now reported the whole thing to my bank.

I got a text out of the blue saying a payment with Apple Pay had been stopped and to reply Y or N if it wasn’t me. I don’t even use Apple Pay so I sent back N. Later on, this number rang me claiming to be some fraud team. I told them I'd speak to my bank directly, but they kept insisting that theirs was the only team to deal with it. I just said no thanks, I'll call my bank myself and ended the call. Looked up 03005008082 afterwards and glad I did. Wouldn’t have shared any details with them anyway, but still worth double checking these things.
