I got a ring from a bloke who said his name was David Stuart, saying he was with Microsoft. I told him to give me the product key for my Microsoft software and asked for a number I could ring back on. He ended up giving me a dodgy product key and a phone number that wasn’t right. Seems like a proper scammer to me. I reckon this sort of thing should be reported to the police or Trading Standards.

I had a run-in that’s quite like the one someone mentioned on 20 June. A man with an Asian accent, going by the name David, kept ringing me and said he was from Microsoft. He warned me that hackers had infected my PC and wanted to help by taking control of it remotely. Before doing anything, I looked into whether Microsoft actually does cold calls like this, and everything I found said no, it’s a scam. I even asked him for a contact number for Microsoft, and he gave me 0300400421. I hung up straight after that.

I got a call from a guy with an Asian accent saying he was with Microsoft. I kept asking him for his phone number, and after a lot of back and forth, he finally gave me this one, seeming pretty reluctant.
