I had a rather peculiar phone call from a lady who claimed to be from Howdens insurance. She was inquiring about my van and seemed quite keen for details, but I mentioned that I'd already taken care of everything. She then suggested that if I had any issues down the line with my insurance, I should reach out to her. Honestly, it all felt rather fishy. I'm quite concerned that it might be a scam.

I picked up the phone and was greeted by a woman’s voice simply saying “hello” before the line abruptly went dead. Intrigued, I decided to ring the number back, only to be met with a robotic voice that started reciting a six-character alphanumeric code. It strikes me as a rather modern method of scamming, if you ask me.
