"Some chap named 'Patrick' rang me up, asserting he was affiliated with Aviva."

So, some bloke rang me pretending to be from the NHS about a vaccine appointment. I told him I hadn’t had my jab yet, and he said I’d be hearing from my GP soon. I asked him who my GP was, and he gave me the details of the surgery I was with like three years ago. When I tried to get more info about which department he was from, his full name or where he worked, he just wouldn’t answer and told me to piss off! Quite the cheek, haha!

Honestly, this is a total scam. It’s nothing like the official Step Debt Relief helpline. Don’t give them your reference number or any details. I called Step Debt Relief myself - their number was completely different. Plus, they have nothing to do with any covid vaccine stuff.

I got a call from some guy claiming to be from the NHS, asking me weird questions about covid jabs and whether anyone in my home had any reactions. Thing is, he never used the name that’s actually on my NHS records, which seemed off. Then he started going on about a government grant that’d somehow be linked to my life insurance. When I asked if he was trying to sell me life insurance, he insisted the NHS doesn’t do that. Honestly, felt really dodgy and definitely not someone from the NHS. Must be careful with these sorts of calls.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with the NHS about my vaccine appointment, which sounded alright at first. But then he started asking about my life insurance, and when I asked why that mattered for the jab, he said it’s part of the government’s COVID rules or something. That just seemed dodgy to me, so I ended the call and blocked the number straight away. Feels like a scam to me, so best steer clear if you get a similar call.

some bloke rang up wanting to talk to my missus, though he called her ms instead of mrs which seemed odd. i asked what it was about and he said something about her covid jab, which immediately made me suspicious. who talks about someone’s medical stuff with another person like that? i asked a few more questions but kept quiet about any details and then the line just went dead. you can work out what that was about yourself. i certainly did.

Got a call from some annoying bloke claiming he was checking on side effects of a vaccine, kept dodging where exactly in the NHS he was from. Pretty sure it was a scam, sounded fishy to me.

Usually, I don’t pick up when I’m waiting for a delivery but this time I did. The person asked if I was ‘my name’, I kept quiet and instead asked “is this about the delivery?” After a brief pause they said “yes, it’s regarding the Amazon delivery” and then they just ended the call. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

Got a call from someone called Robert, using the number 03003035300. He said he was with the NHS team. When I asked him a few questions about the call, he just went silent and ended it. Seemed a bit dodgy to me. This was happening around Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

I got in touch with StepChange, the charity that helps with debt advice since they’re a non-profit. Their aftercare crew was really supportive.

This is StepChange, the charity that assists with debt management. They don’t engage in unsolicited calls, so if you see them listed on your bill, it indicates that someone has dialled them using your phone, possibly desiring some discretion. It might have been a relative, a mate, or even a guest who needed assistance.

I've noticed an unexpected charge on my statement for a number I’ve never dialled or picked up. It’s utterly ridiculous how these scams are proliferating! We shouldn’t be footing the bill for calls that we didn't initiate. It's high time that legislation was updated to tackle this issue!
