Right as the call started recording, a lady's voice came on saying it’s a free service and mentioned something about me having picked a four digit 'safe word'. I didn’t say a thing, just kept quiet, and honestly can’t remember agreeing to any 'safe word' at all. After reading the comments here, I’m gonna give them a ring myself. I was really careful throughout.

I got a call from Energy Funding Service, but they said they couldn’t chat right now. They mentioned they’d ring back sometime during the week.

I came across this phone number on a site offering government energy grants for free funding. At first I was a bit sceptical cos nowadays free stuff is pretty rare... But I called up the trading standards in the company’s area, and they said the business is genuine. You might be able to get help with things like installing solar panels, insulation or a new boiler through them.

Gave them my info and then never heard a peep, feels like a total con to me.

A truly authentic initiative, they collaborate with a network of installers throughout Greater Manchester to implement the ECO4 and LA Flex schemes. They provide complimentary heating systems and insulation installations.

I can assure you, it’s not just a tall tale; they’re a non-profit entity. They won't ask you for a penny from the very beginning to the end. The registration questions were all perfectly reasonable. They act as coordinators for approved installers who have the green light from local councils to provide services at no cost under the eco4 scheme. If you meet the criteria, you’re eligible for a complimentary survey. Should the installers be able to proceed, they handle everything at no expense to you, receiving their payment through the council instead. Honestly, it’s truly free; it’s just that the government foots the bill for them. No need to fret, it's definitely not a scam.

This group is a legit non-profit that helps folks get free home repairs. You can check them out on Companies House, and their site even says they sponsor Rochdale football club. Sounds trustworthy enough since they don’t charge anything.

My dad snagged a free boiler and heating upgrade from a government program right before the cold set in. It’s been a massive relief not having to splash out loads on heating bills. The crew who came round were really kind and took their time, which was great since he’s 80 and not the quickest with tech stuff. Proper helpful lot!

These annoying calls about solar panels or boilers wont stop! They ring, you pick up and they just drop the call straight away, then they ring back later on. Proper harassment that is. Even worse, they use some VOIP trick so you can’t track them or get them into any trouble. The calls don’t even show up as SPAM on my phone. I’ve tried blocking the numbers but they always come back from a totally random place smashing through with new ones. So frustrating!

At first, I ignored the call cause I thought it was a scam, and they didn’t bother leaving a voicemail either. Then, I realised it was actually from the Energy Funding Service.

A bona fide organisation, indeed! They collaborate with installers designated by local councils and authorities. I took the liberty of validating this through the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), and the Council corroborated that all requested documents are strictly for verification. They need these to ensure the funding is correctly allocated. I’ve successfully secured funding for the installation of heat pumps and solar panels, and I must say, I’m utterly delighted with the service provided. Remarkably, it didn’t cost me a single penny-absolutely free of charge! I wholeheartedly recommend this service. Don’t hesitate to get involved!

I just got a new boiler installed, which was surprising since I’m not on any benefits. At first, I was a bit suspicious and figured it might be a scam or that I wouldn’t qualify. Turns out, there's more ways to qualify than I thought! Glad they reached out to us because the whole process went smoothly. Proper pleased with how it all worked out. +rep for sure!

This company seems legit, collaborating with recognised installers and local councils, which is probably why the products are funded and installed at no cost. I double-checked with Greater Manchester Combined Authority to be sure. They did ask for paperwork like council tax bills and bank statements, but apparently these are needed for verification and are actually requested by your local council. I sent over my boiler’s make and model through WhatsApp to check if it was eligible, then provided the necessary documents. The property survey was done within a week, and the new boiler plus radiators were installed within two weeks. Really pleased I went ahead with them and would definitely recommend them to others.

Yesterday, my folks got a letter about something called Energy Funding Service. I rang the number on it, 0191 909 7059, and gave them my dad’s name and birthday. Now, they've messaged us on WhatsApp asking for the boiler’s make and model. I’m planning to block their number from now on.

Got a letter from Energy Funding Service recently, so I rang them up to check out this government ECO4 energy insulation thing. But straight away, they started asking for all sorts of personal stuff like bank statements, council tax bills and even proof that you own your house. Felt really dodgy to me! Be careful with these guys.

I recently received a rather dubious phone call purportedly about government funding under the ECO4 initiative, aimed at enhancing the insulation of subpar homes. Strangely, I had received a letter beforehand, prompting me to get in touch with them. However, the conversation quickly took a concerning turn, as they began to request sensitive personal information, including three months' worth of bank statements, my council tax documentation, and evidence of property ownership. Quite alarming! Proceed with extreme caution!

I recently received correspondence from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority regarding energy grants. The contact number listed was for the Stockport branch of the Energy Funding Service. After checking it out, I found it to be genuine. I decided to give them a bell, sharing a few personal details that didn’t involve finances. They then asked for a security word, which I provided. Shortly after, another department returned my call - it was indeed the number referenced here. Interestingly, my Samsung device flagged it as a potential scam. However, since I was anticipating their call, I answered. They had my security word on hand, which reassured me. When I mentioned that their number showed up as possible spam, they were completely baffled and couldn’t explain it or rectify the situation. They assured me that they never initiate unsolicited calls, confirming that it is a legitimate contact.

The correspondence mentions Stockport Funding, which is highlighted as a non-profit entity dealing with government grants. It’s worth noting that this has no connection whatsoever to Stockport Council. You reached out to the Energy Funding Service, not the council itself. As for me, they've installed an Air Source Heat Pump at my place.

I got a call from this number after I dialled it from a letter that claimed to be from some energy help charity. Thought it was legit since the letter had a Hull city code, but when I answered, the person definitely wasn’t local. I ended the call sharpish. Checked their website - looks really basic, like something anyone could knock up. Feels dodgy to me, so watch out for these scams! From a woman in Hull.
