Got a call from someone saying they were with HMRC, saying I'd be getting arrested for tax fraud. They said if I paid them right then over the phone, the arrest would be cancelled. Totally sketchy stuff, HMRC would never ring you up like that, honestly pretty obvious scam.

Beware of this awful HMRC scam! My mum got a call where they said she’d be arrested and it really upset her, she was crying on the phone. I grabbed the handset and started shouting back, and funny enough, the agent with an Asian accent began swearing too! This happens all the time, don’t let people fall for it. Make sure you report these scammers so others know what’s going on!

Got a robocall claiming I owed HMRC for tax fraud and that if I didn’t press ‘1’ to speak to them, they’d forward my info and I’d get arrested. Didn’t even consider pressing ‘1’ because there’s no way HMRC would announce something like that through a robot voice. Just went ahead and blocked the number.

Got a call from someone in India asking for my personal info, which I told them no way, seemed dodgy to me. They tried ringing me a couple of times but I just hung up. It’s really nasty how some scams pretend to be legit before sending any mail. I ended up ringing HMRC directly to sort it out, no chance I’ll ever trust that number again.

Got a ring from an 0300 number telling my missus they were from the Tax Fraud dept. They warned her to press 1 or they’d come arrest us. She looked really shaken but had already cut off before I could tell her to just ignore the lot of it.
