So, I got a call saying it was HMRC about some income tax fraud and that they were going to arrest me. The lady told me to look up the number online and call her back. She also said something like, “We don’t need to prove who we are.” I told her I wasn’t giving out any details and asked her to send me something in writing instead.

never just trust a caller right away, even if they sound legit. if someone rings asking you to pay up, sign into a website, or promises some great offer, be very careful. don’t share your info with them - most likely they’re trying to scam you.

Just got one of those dodgy calls claiming to be from HMRC, threatening arrest over tax fraud if you don’t press 1. Like honestly, would a proper government agency ever speak like that out of the blue? Utter nonsense. Blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from someone pretending to be HMRC, saying if I didn’t press 1 I’d get arrested or something ridiculous like that. They tried to scare me, but I never even gave them my number, so how would they know to ring me up? Total scam.
