I received a similar message earlier and after chatting with a colleague, he mentioned he’d had the same dodgy call as well. Sounds like a right scam to me. Fingers crossed it’s nothing serious - I’d rather not have the police hanging about this neck of the woods. The number that rang me was ‭0300 208 4426‬.

I received a rather alarming text from this number, claiming there was some sort of tax fraud registered under my name and warning that if I didn't return the call, I would have the police at my doorstep to arrest me. Absolutely ridiculous! Naturally, I refrained from calling back. I happen to have a relative who's a police officer, so I shared this unsettling message with them. They quickly confirmed it was just a scam and advised me to ignore it altogether. It’s quite concerning, really; I can only imagine how distressing this could be for older folks who might feel threatened by such a call.
