I got a call from someone claiming to be with the HMRC saying I owed them £1,000 and would be arrested if I didn't pay up. I found it really stressful but decided to double-check with my workplace first, and they confirmed everything with my taxes was fine. When I told the caller I’d check with my employer, the line just went dead. I then spoke to my employer properly and they reckoned it was likely a scam.
