Received a rather alarming call from this number, with someone claiming to be a senior tax officer from HMRC. They proceeded to berate me, alleging that a warrant was out for my arrest owing to my supposed involvement in tax fraud. I’ll admit that I did share my name and address, but I flatly refused to disclose any more information without receiving something in writing first. To that, they asserted that they had tried delivering such a statement on two occasions but it had never arrived. The entire encounter felt dubious, especially given the menacing tone they employed. One would typically expect an HMRC representative to adopt a more reassuring or accommodating demeanour. I urge everyone to be vigilant and always verify the legitimacy of such calls online before divulging any personal details.
