It's the HMRC, not 'Inland revenue', and they never ring you up out of the blue. They’re all about sending letters and forms, not calls.

Some scam, I got a call saying the tax office has some sort of case on me.

Got a call from this number claiming to be the Inland Revenue. They said I had a big fine to pay and if I didn’t hit one on the phone, the police would come to arrest me. Still no sign of any police though, so I’m not sure what that was about.

Got a voicemail from a number saying it was HMRC. They said I was involved in tax fraud and would face arrest right away unless I pressed 1 to speak to them. Definitely not how HMRC operates!
