Got a call recently from a woman with an Indian accent claiming I'd be arrested if I didn't press one to pay up. She said I owed £478 but didn’t ask for any details like my address or anything. The noise in the background made it sound like a hectic call centre. I asked to talk to her manager or someone higher up because she wasn’t sounding very professional at all, and then she just cut me off. Felt dodgy from the get-go.

I got a call from a recorded voice claiming I’d broken some law with HMRC and if I didn’t hit ‘1’ they’d send an arrest warrant after me. Of course I just hung up straight away. I can see how people who aren’t clued up about these scams might panic though... they really should be careful and know this sort of thing is a scam.
