7 yearsGot a call around half past nine this morning, they told me to hit 1 and then just cut off, never got to talk to anyone at all.7 yearsLike the other person mentioned, this was a spam call I never asked for. My phone actually went ahead and blocked it on its own. Definitely just a scam trying to get in touch.7 yearsGot a call from this number at around 3.35pm on 19/6/2019. An automated voice said there was a fraud case opened in my name and told me to press 1 to talk to an HMRC official. When I spoke to the so-called advisor, he said I was under investigation. The person said he was based in Glasgow, but I had a feeling he was somewhere else. I asked for his name and he said David Downes. I then asked him to verify the address and National Insurance number they had on file for me since I wouldn’t give mine out. After that, he just hung up. I rang HMRC afterwards to check, and they confirmed these are scammers trying to con people. Often they threaten arrest warrants or say you have to pay a fine, taking your bank details and emptying your account.
