Picked up and got one of those automated messages about a warrant from HMRC or something... yeah, like they’d actually bother leaving prerecorded calls for that sort of thing. Suspicious as hell.

I received a rather unsettling automated call claiming to be from HMRC, stating I was involved in some sort of fraud case. They prompted me to press 1 to connect with a case handler. I was then put through to a woman with a heavy accent who made it quite evident that her English wasn't great. When she asked for my date of birth and I declined to provide it, she ominously threatened to send the police round to arrest me. Quite bizarre, if you ask me. - Caller: Phony HMRC

Yet again, a bogus HMRC scam call claiming tax fraud. Seriously, does anyone really believe HMRC would contact you with some automated voice telling you there’s a warrant out for your arrest? It’s ridiculous and just a pain to deal with!
