I received a rather alarming automated call claiming that there's a fraud investigation involving me by HMRC. It warned that failing to respond could lead to an arrest warrant being issued. When I was connected to an individual with a foreign accent, they asked for my name. I refused to provide this information, explaining that as I was the one they called, they should be able to trace me through my number. The caller insisted I wasn't having a chat with a mate and that ignoring this matter could be perilous. They added that if I was sceptical, I was free to hang up. Which is exactly what I did, followed by blocking the number!
