I received a rather alarming phone call today from a woman claiming to be with HMRC, stating that I was under suspicion of tax evasion. Quite taken aback, I responded that I was baffled as to why she was contacting me. She proceeded to inquire about my employment and if I had any legal counsel in place. Just as things started to feel rather tense, the line abruptly went dead!
